“Those who have no record of what their forebearers have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography & history”
Carter G. Woodson
December 19, 1875 – April 3, 1950

The words of Dr. Carter Godwin Woodson, distinguished Black author, editor, publisher, and historian still rings today. It is essential that we all understand that Black history began long before the transatlantic slave trade brought African ancestors to this land. Black Americans, descend from kings and queens and scholars and warriors. February is a time to remind everyone that we need to celebrate the accomplishments of Black Americans all year long and weave those stories permanently into the fabric of American history.
